Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

The Borabu Sports for Peace initiative aims to use the power of sport to provide a positive environment for interaction for young people affected by the recent post-election conflict in the Borabu-Sotik Border, Kenya, where over 70 people lost lives and over 20,000 were displaced. The 21 September event to be held at Borabu will launch a series of activities for youth aged 8 to 21 in schools and communities across Borabu and Sotik which were most affected by the recent unrest. Activities will include talks, drama workshops, tree planting as well as sports tournaments. Heideliberg Christian Community & Medical Centre (HCCMC) and 5 community-based organizations will help organize the activities and children will have access to trained peer counselors.

Create a Giant Peace Dove!

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008

If you ever wanted to learn how to create a giant peace dove for your community, instructions are kindly provided by Roots and Shoots, a youth program of the Jane Goodall Institute.

One of the giant peace doves that will be created on Peace Day will be found in Willowmavin, Australia at Edgar’s Mission Farm Sanctuary. This unique sanctuary for rescued farm animals invites members of the community to participate. For more information on this event and all Peace Day events visit the Event Calendar.
