Plan a Peace Day Event – Art & Culture
Art and other cultural activities are powerful ways of observing International Day of Peace. By combining the concept of peace with artistic expressions, there is tremendous possibility to reach a wider audience. In the past, groups and individuals have organized plays, drawing competitions, art exhibitions and more to commemorate Peace Day in their community.
Examples of Peace Day events:
- Write a poem for peace – publish in a newspaper, magazine, website or other media
- Organize an art exhibition on the theme of peace
- Book Club for peace – discuss books on the subject of peace
- Drawing/Writing competition for peace
- Organize a multi-cultural event, with performers from different countries
- Photography competition on peace theme – winners are published in newspaper or magazine
- Donate part of the proceeds from your production to a peace organization or project
- Organize a "Choir for Peace" concert
- Movie theatres: show "Peace One Day" or other documentary on the theme of peace (www.peaceoneday.org)
- Submit your film to the Global Peace Film Festival
- Create a short film about peace, submit to the "Global Peace Film Festival" (www.peacefilmfest.org)
- Plant a rock for peace (www.plantingrocksforpeace.org)
- Form a multi-cultural choir and perform the song “The beauty of our world”
